crooked

On Monday I had a dentist appt, which usually I totally don't mind. I'm not one of those people who fear and dread the dentist... if anything I fall asleep in the chair. But that's usually because I'm getting a clean and check done..and that's really not 'seeing' the dentist.
Monday was 'get fillings' day. OMG. I thought I was going to DIE. Or at least suffocate to death. It was HORRIBLE! I forgot how horrible it was... the needles, the drilling, the stupid rubber dam over my mouth that made me feel like I couldn't breathe. Then to top it all off, the freezing that took over one side of my face, from my mouth to my ear! And it lasted for over 4 HOURS! My own son barely recognized me because I was all crooked. It was an awful day.

This post is dedicated to Juanita for babysitting my cranky, teething baby. And to Kim, who rightfully so endures panic attacks before each and every dentist appt. Never again will I doubt her.

Sleepy Eli

This past week was soooo crazy busy, filled with tons of shopping.... it completely pooped out Eli.

Ladies on the Town

While Becky was here visiting from Vancouver, we had to do a ladies night out! So we hit a great little martini lounge and did some booty shakin' afterwards. It was a fun and memorable night....

Ps. Donloree is not 'inebriated' in these pictures... she just couldn't stop blinking!

Happy Birthday Jared!

This past Sunday (March 25th) we celebrated Jared's 28th year... with food, friends, and good times! We filled up two tables at the fun restaurant Louisiana Purchase where we enjoyed spicy cajun/creole cooking... and even some skewered alligator! Thanks to everyone that came out, we had a ton of fun!

boys will be boys

I took this picture a couple weeks ago and complete forgot to post it. The boys are adorable, and I love this shot of them. Eli loves to chew on the most random items, one of those being our phone. Amazing how there are SO many gadgets and toys for babies to play with, but the simple things like remotes, shoes, socks, paper, chapsticks... are what my baby wants to play with. Forget the singing, beeping, flashing things... he wants what he can't have. This should be lots of fun once he learns to talk!

Cheerio, Mate!

Last weekend we started to feed Eli Cheerios...and he LOVES them. He knew exactly what to do with them, like somewhere in his brain it connected that "these little round hole things are food... eat them".
It's really cute to watch because he bites them in half first (with all his teeth) and then eats them, and he makes such a cute face when they 'crunch'.

The "Other" Babysitter

Ok, I know, I'm a horrible mother... but its hard to NOT let your child watch cartoons here and there. Especially when it distracts them for 10 minutes, so you can eat your lunch... or brush your teeth, or check your email. When I was pregnant, I said I would never let my child watch TV until they were at least 2 or 3. Hahahahha... riiiighhhhhttt.

PS. It's super cute to watch him watch TV, he's completely oblivious to everything else around him.

Martha Stewart was here!

The day after Valentines Day, we had small group at our house, and Martha Stewart took over and made these wonderful little desserts: Strawberry Heart Pillows. I couldn't help but take pictures, they were just so beautiful... and delicious! Even easier to make! They look difficult (a little time consuming) but super easy and a crowd pleaser. (Ok, now I really DO sound like Martha).

Can't you just taste them? MMMMMMMMmmmmmmm

Jared, aka: "The Baby Whisperer"

Jared has officially taken responsibility of Eli's swimming lessons, and its so great to watch the two of them bond every Saturday morning. It's actually really cool to see all the baby's and their daddy's in the pool (it seems to be quite the 'dad' thing to do). Jared is now known as "The Baby Whisperer" because he softly hums and sings in Eli's ear to keep him calm, and it works. It's almost as if Eli is in some sort of trance, he just seems so calm and focused. Its really cute.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was A Bear

Great Granny bought Eli the cutest, snuggliest outfit for Christmas... here are some great pics of him showing it off.

Chompers

Eli is a teething MACHINE! He has just recently cut his 7th tooth (3 in one month!) and I'm sure the 8th is not far behind. Thankfully, his bitting has decreased... it was a painful few months! Here are some great pics of Eli showing off his chompers!

Boilermakers Banquet 2007

This past Saturday, Jared and I left Eli with some GREAT babysitters (Thanks Matt & Allison!) and attended his 2007 Boilermakers Banquet at the Delta Inn Hotel. I was pretty nervous to leave Eli, as it was his first time alone with 'non-famliy' babysitters, but he did great! So with our cell phone close at hand, Jared and I enjoyed a wonderful evening to ourselves. Jared was honoured for having top marks in his 2nd yr Welding class and received a Leatherman to commemorate the event. Our evening included a wonderful dinner, dancing to the oldies, a 'few' drinks, and LOTS of drunk old men. HAHA...
All in all it was a great night... a good excuse to get dressed up and to go out.

The Winning Picture

I guess I am a sucker for contests... "Regis & Kelly" are having a "Beautiful Baby" contest and I just couldn't resist. For a number of reasons, first being that Eli is the cutest (biased, I know) and second... It's very rare that a TV show allows Canadian residents to enter. So once I found out that I could enter, I knew that I just had to. The problem was, what picture do I choose? There are just so many! haha (again, biased). So I brought out the camera, and waited to see what my little man would do.

So here's the "winning" (hopefully :) picture:

And a few close runner-ups:

The 10 Semi-Finalists will be chosen the week of February 19th, and flown (all-expense paid!) to New York to appear on the show. Then I think America (and Canada) votes for the most Beautiful Baby. The grande prize winner receives $5000 and the four runner ups $1000. So keep your fingers crossed!

At Least Someone Likes Laundry

We think Eli might have a slight fascination with laundry... we can thank Jared for putting him in the dryer.

The New Additions to the Family

Jared and I decided that it was time to put our couch potatos away... and rediscover some of our musical talents. We really value music, and want Eli to grow up with that same value, and playing the piano. No, I will not make him play as a family band...too many scarring moments like that in my own childhood. So here are our new family members. Say hello to drums and guitar...
